My name is Kara and I was born and raised in Colorado! I grew up loving nature, science, and animals so naturally, I wanted to become a veterinarian. While my professional dream is still to be realized, my healing tendencies have remained. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and immediately found work in a veterinary clinic. During that summer, I learned about Reiki training courses offered at a local community college and jumped at the opportunity. I completed levels I and II by November 2014 and levels III and IV in January 2015.
I returned to school for my Masters in Microbiology and sincerely believed my future was in a laboratory environment. I have since worked and volunteered in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, diagnostic laboratories, and research settings. Each opportunity encouraged me to grow and while I loved aspects of all, none truly nourished my soul. I’ve now decided to act on the messages I have received through others from above and open a Reiki practice to help animals, those who love them, and other beings improve their lives to reach their highest potential.
While this may seem like a strange turn of events, but I have learned to enjoy my ride! I am still very much a scientist at heart and am intrigued by the advancements being made in Western medicine, that part of me will never burn out. However, life lessons have convinced me to investigate and explore ancient modalities to see if they can be integrated with or complement scientific methods of healing.
When I’m not working, you can find me in nature with friends or family but always with my beautiful, golden retriever Ladybug! If I’m not outside, I’m enjoying food with good people, volunteering at the local humane society, reading, or binge watching Netflix with Ladybug by my side and my rescue cat Charles curled up on my lap.
